Who Are We?

At Teen Texture Camp, we are dedicated to celebrating and nurturing the unique beauty of textured hair. Our mission is to empower young people by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to embrace and care for their natural hair.

We offer a supportive and creative environment where campers learn about the versatility and care of textured hair through hands-on activities, educational workshops, and expert guidance. Our experienced team is passionate about fostering positive self-image, self-confidence, and individuality.

Who Can Attend?

Girls and boys ages 10–16.

​

What Time Does Camp Start and End?

Teen Texture Camp will feature one session only this year.

Camp Hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Please arrive a few minutes early for check-in and plan for prompt pick-up at the conclusion of camp.

What Should Campers Wear?

Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.

​

What Should Campers Bring?

Bring your enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive attitude! Campers do not need to bring any styling tools or supplies.

​

Please note that camp activities are limited to registered attendees only. Family members and guests will not be permitted in camp sessions.

​

Will Lunch Be Provided?

Yes! Lunch and light snacks will be provided.

What's New for 2026?

A Small Registration Fee

For the first time, Teen Texture Camp will require a $30 registration fee per attendee. Registration opens June 8, 2026.

​

Why the Change?

Since launching in 2021, Teen Texture Camp has been offered at no cost to families thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, and volunteers. However, the cost of hosting the camp continues to rise, including venue rental, educational materials, supplies, meals, insurance, and event operations.

​

The $30 registration fee helps offset a small portion of these expenses while allowing us to continue providing a high-quality experience for campers. The actual cost of camp far exceeds the registration fee.

This small investment also helps us better plan attendance and reduce last-minute cancellations, ensuring that available spots are used by families who are committed to participating.

Our mission remains the same: to provide an empowering, educational, and confidence-building experience for teens with textured hair.

​

Why Is There Only One Camp Session This Year?

To provide a more impactful and immersive experience, Teen Texture Camp 2026 will feature one extended session instead of two shorter sessions. This allows campers more time for hands-on learning, mentorship, confidence-building activities, and personalized instruction.

Is the registration fee refundable?

The $30 registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Because Teen Texture Camp is a nonprofit program with limited capacity, registration fees are used to secure supplies, meals, educational materials, and event resources for each camper.

​

If your child is unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible so that we may offer the spot to a camper on our waitlist. Registration fees are non-refundable. However, if Teen Texture Camp must cancel the event, registration fees will be refunded in full.

 

Self-Styling Option – New for 2026

 

Will Campers Still Receive Hands-On Styling Experience?

Absolutely! Hands-on learning remains a core part of Teen Texture Camp. Campers will continue to practice healthy hair care, styling techniques, and textured hair education under the guidance of licensed beauty professionals and trained volunteers.

Can Campers Style Their Own Hair This Year?

Yes! For the first time, campers may choose to participate in a limited self-styling experience where they will practice styling techniques on their own hair under supervision.

Campers who do not wish to style their own hair may complete all activities using a mannequin.

​

How Should My Child Arrive for Self-Styling?

Campers participating in self-styling must arrive with their hair:

• Freshly shampooed
• Conditioned
• Thoroughly detangled

This ensures campers can maximize their learning experience and participate fully in the day's activities.

Why Are You Offering Self-Styling?

Our goal is to help campers build confidence and independence in caring for their textured hair. By practicing on themselves in a supportive environment, they can develop skills they can continue using long after camp ends.

​

Are Self-Styling Spaces Limited?

Yes. Due to staffing, supervision, and time considerations, self-styling spaces are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

​

Will Teen Texture Camp Provide a Finished Hairstyle?

Teen Texture Camp is an educational experience, not a salon service. While campers will receive instruction, guidance, and hands-on support throughout the day, we cannot guarantee any specific hairstyle or outcome.

Campers may leave with a completed style; however, the primary goal is education, confidence-building, and skill development.
