Empowering the Next Generation to Love Their Natural Hair

The tween and teen years are a critical time for building confidence, self-expression, and identity. For many young people with textured hair, learning how to properly care for and style their natural hair can be overwhelming. Unfortunately, hair challenges often impact self-esteem and leave teens feeling frustrated, discouraged, or unsure of themselves.

That's why Teen Texture Camp was created.

​

Teen Texture Camp is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through textured hair education, confidence-building, and self-care. Our mission is to help young people develop the knowledge and skills needed to embrace and care for their natural hair with pride.

​

During this immersive, hands-on experience, campers learn directly from licensed beauty professionals and textured hair experts. Participants explore topics such as:

• Understanding hair texture and curl patterns
• Healthy hair care practices
• Product selection and ingredient awareness
• Shampooing, conditioning, and detangling techniques
• Protective styling methods
• Two-strand twists, flat twists, Wash-and-Gos, and more

New for 2026

This year, advanced campers will have the opportunity to participate in a limited self-styling experience, allowing them to practice their newly learned skills on their own hair under professional supervision. Campers may also choose to work on mannequins.  Space is limited.  

​

"Our goal is about much more than hair," says Founder India Bertin. "We're helping young people build confidence, independence, and a positive self-image. When a teen learns to care for and embrace their natural texture, it can change how they see themselves."

Space is limited. Register opens June 8, 2026.  Register early to reserve your child's spot.
